Cognac is distilled from wine, essentially from fermented white grapes. This is what distinguishes its flavor and aromas from the other brown spirits – rum (made from sugar cane) and whiskey (distilled from cereals). Compared to them, cognac has a lower alcohol content and is smoother. Of course, one should be careful with generalizations when it comes to drinks with such diverse flavor spectrums. In perfume, compositions with a cognac note tend to be warm, woody, with a rich spice bouquet and a strong and comforting character.
